I didn’t always specialize in working with contractors.
For years, I worked with service-based businesses, helping them organize their books and understand their numbers. I enjoyed the work — until one phone call changed everything.
A contractor reached out to me after hearing about me from one of my clients. He was frustrated and overwhelmed. His bookkeeper wasn’t tracking work in progress (WIP). His expenses didn’t seem to match his revenue. He suspected his taxes had been filed incorrectly. And most importantly, he had no clear idea which jobs were actually profitable.
He wasn’t asking for “basic bookkeeping.”
He was asking for clarity.
He was asking for answers.
He was asking for control over his business.
That conversation stuck with me.
I realized that contractors face a completely different set of financial challenges than most service businesses. Job costing. WIP tracking. Progress billing. Retainage. Tight margins. Cash flow swings. Complex payroll.
And many of them weren’t getting the specialized financial support they truly needed.
That was the moment I decided to shift my focus.
Today, I specialize in bookkeeping and CFO services specifically for contractors — helping them understand their job profitability, manage cash flow, and build businesses that are not just busy, but profitable and sustainable.
Because contractors don’t just need someone to “do the books.”
They need someone who understands how their industry actually works.
And that’s exactly what I’m here to provide.
